Profile
Christos Mandas is a Greek goalkeeper whose route to Serie A began with senior football at Atromitos. Born in Piraeus, he made his Greek Cup debut against Sparta in November 2017 and first played in the Greek top flight against Kerkyra in May 2018.
He moved to OFI Crete in January 2022 and established himself there before Lazio brought him to Italy in summer 2023. The move joined two stages of his development: early exposure at Atromitos, then a sustained role at OFI. Lazio's own account of his arrival identifies OFI as the club from which he crossed into Italian football.
Mandas started Lazio's 1–0 Coppa Italia quarter-final win over Roma on 10 January 2024. That derby put him in a knockout match early in his first Italian season: Lazio advanced to the semi-finals with him in goal. Later in 2024 he also started Europa League matches, including the November win over Porto and the December away win at Ajax.
The 2025 Europa League quarter-final against Bodø/Glimt gives a closer view of his goalkeeping. In the away leg, UEFA described him spreading his body to stop a late chance for Ulrik Saltnes and then denying Odin Bjørtuft. In the return, he stopped a low effort and another late attempt before saving a shoot-out penalty from Jens Petter Hauge. Lazio still went out on penalties; the saves were important moments within a lost tie, not a trophy-winning performance.
Greece first called him into the senior squad in May 2024 for friendlies against Germany and Malta. His federation records him playing in the Malta match that June and in another friendly against Slovakia in June 2025. Those appearances mark participation for his country, rather than merely a place in a squad list.
Lazio loaned Mandas to Bournemouth in January 2026. Back in Lazio's goal against Venezia on 19 September, he saved a first-half penalty and made further stops before his side won 2–0. That sequence illustrates the value of his shot-stopping: the goalkeeper kept the game level before Lazio scored, an effect that a clean-sheet label alone would miss. Lega Serie A named him its player of that match.
Christos Mandas currently plays for Lazio as a goalkeeper. He has represented Greece internationally.
