Responsible Gambling
Last updated: 26 July 2026
Oddsivio is a football analysis site, not a betting service. Where we cover odds and markets, we do it as transparent analysis — including our track record when we are wrong — never as tips or promises of profit. If you choose to bet, this page is about keeping it safe, and about where to get help if it stops being fun.
The ground rules
Gambling is entertainment with a cost, not a way to make money. The odds are built so that the bookmaker keeps a margin on every market; over time, most people lose. Nothing published on Oddsivio changes that, and nothing here is betting or financial advice.
You must be at least 18 years old (or the legal gambling age in your jurisdiction, if higher) to gamble, and it is your responsibility to follow the laws that apply where you live.
Keeping it in control
A few simple habits separate recreational betting from harmful betting:
- Decide what you can afford to lose before you start, and treat it as spent. Never bet money you need for bills, rent, or family.
- Never chase losses. A losing day does not owe you a winning one.
- Set deposit and time limits in your bookmaker account before you need them.
- Do not gamble when you are upset, under pressure, or under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
- Keep gambling one activity among many — if it is your main way to cope with stress or boredom, step back.
Warning signs
Consider taking a break, or seeking help, if any of these feel familiar:
- Betting more than you planned, or more often than you meant to.
- Hiding your gambling, or lying about how much you spend.
- Borrowing money, selling things, or dipping into savings to bet.
- Feeling restless or irritable when you try to stop.
- Gambling to win back losses, or to escape problems and low moods.
- Gambling starting to affect your work, studies, or relationships.
Tools that help
Licensed bookmakers are required to offer player-protection tools — use them. Deposit limits, loss limits, and reality-check reminders can be set in your account settings. Time-outs pause your account for days or weeks; self-exclusion closes it for months or years, and many countries operate national self-exclusion registers that cover every licensed operator at once.
Free blocking software such as Gamban and BetBlocker can block gambling sites and apps across your devices.
Free, confidential help
If gambling is causing you or someone close to you harm, these organisations offer free and confidential support:
- Gambling Therapy — worldwide online support in multiple languages.
- BeGambleAware and GamCare — advice, tools, and the National Gambling Helpline (UK).
- Gamblers Anonymous — peer-support meetings in many countries.
- Joc Responsabil — counselling and self-help programmes (Romania).
Under 18? Gambling at your age is illegal and considerably riskier — talk to an adult you trust, and know that the organisations above help young people too.
