Profile
Samuel Chukwueze is a Nigerian left-footed attacker whose most familiar starting point is the right flank. From there, he can run at a defender, shift the ball inside to shoot, or draw a challenge before finding a teammate. His speed matters because it forces a decision: protect the route inside or risk giving him space outside.
His route into European football began at Diamond Football Academy in Nigeria. At the 2015 Under-17 World Cup, he helped Nigeria win the title and received the tournament's Bronze Ball. Villarreal brought him to Spain in 2017, and he progressed from their B team to a first-team debut in 2018.
Villarreal won the 2020/21 Europa League during his spell there. A year later, Chukwueze supplied a more personal European landmark. Coming off the bench against Bayern Munich in April 2022, he finished a late counterattack from Gerard Moreno's cross. The 1–1 draw took Villarreal through to the Champions League semi-finals on aggregate.
AC Milan signed him from Villarreal in July 2023. That December, he came on late at Newcastle and scored the winner in a 2–1 Champions League group-stage victory. It secured Milan a place in the Europa League knockout play-offs, rather than passage to the Champions League last 16.
A September 2025 loan took him from Milan to Fulham for the 2025/26 season. After coming on at half-time against Manchester City that December, he scored twice as Fulham recovered from 5–1 down before losing 5–4. The quick finishes showed a scoring threat alongside the dribbling and chance creation that define his wider role.
For Nigeria, he contributed two assists against Uganda at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, setting up both of Raphael Onyedika's goals in a group-stage win. Nigeria went on to finish third in January 2026, beating Egypt on penalties in the play-off.
Back in a Milan match in August 2026, he scored once and supplied two assists in a friendly against Manchester United. One assist led to Cissé's finish and a cross set up Ramos. The episode shows two sides of his attacking game: ending a move himself or placing the ball for someone else.
Samuel Chukwueze currently plays for AC Milan as a right winger. He has represented Nigeria internationally.
