Profile
Ferran Torres is a Spanish forward whose movement helps turn possession into chances. Comfortable on the wing or through the middle, he looks to separate himself from his marker and arrive where a pass can become a shot. His positioning inside the penalty area is an important part of his finishing: the work begins before the ball reaches him.
Born in Foios, near Valencia, he developed in Valencia's academy before making his La Liga debut against Eibar on 16 December 2017. That pathway took him from youth football into the senior side and then the Champions League. He also won the Copa del Rey with Valencia in 2019.
A move to Manchester City followed in 2020. Playing centrally gave him another way to use his movement, alongside his experience out wide. Pep Guardiola praised his finishing and compared his runs to Jamie Vardy's, recognising how his movement could create scoring opportunities. Torres was part of City's Premier League and League Cup winning side in 2021.
Barcelona agreed his transfer in December 2021, and he made his debut the following January. One of his defining contributions came in the 2025 Copa del Rey final: his equaliser against Real Madrid took the game into extra time, before Jules Koundé scored the winner in a 3–2 victory.
In May 2026, Torres scored again against Madrid as Barcelona won 2–0 to secure the league title. His response to Dani Olmo's flick into space provided a clear example of his attacking instincts: recognising the opening, collecting the ball and finishing before the defenders could respond.
His international career also contains decisive finals. Torres scored both goals in Spain's 2–0 victory over Portugal in the 2019 Under-19 European Championship final, then was part of Spain's EURO 2024-winning squad. On 19 July 2026, he scored in the 106th minute of the World Cup final, giving Spain a 1–0 win over Argentina.
In August 2026, he moved from Barcelona to Paris Saint-Germain, reuniting with Luis Enrique, who had previously coached him for Spain. It added a French chapter to a career developed across Spanish and English football.
