Profile
Pedro Fernández Sarmiento, known as Dro Fernández, is a Spanish midfielder whose game is built around receiving between lines. When he finds room beyond an opponent's midfield, he can turn towards goal, carry the ball forward or connect a pass into the final third. His own description of his game stresses both carrying and choosing the right moment to release it.
He began at ED Val Miñor Nigrán in Galicia and joined Barcelona's academy in 2022. His progress moved quickly through the youth age groups: he played for the under-19 sides during 2024/25 after coming from the under-16 level.
Barcelona won the 2025 UEFA Youth League with Dro part of the campaign. In the 4–1 final against Trabzonspor, he came on for Arnau Pradas in the 79th minute, after Barcelona had scored all four of its goals.
He scored against Vissel Kobe in a friendly on Barcelona's summer 2025 tour. His competitive first-team debut came on 28 September 2025 against Real Sociedad, when he started and played the first half. He later supplied an assist against Olympiacos in the Champions League.
Dro also represented Spain at youth level, including the under-17s and under-18s. He scored a winning goal against Norway in European Under-17 Championship qualifying in March 2025.
He joined Paris Saint-Germain from Barcelona in the winter of 2026 and made his PSG debut as a substitute against Marseille on 8 February. In May, he started in midfield against Lens as Paris clinched the 2025/26 Ligue 1 title. His low shot just wide early in that match showed a second side of his midfield role: he can arrive near the box to finish a move as well as link its earlier phases.
His early senior pathway is defined by the climb from Barcelona's youth sides, the switch to Paris and the way he seeks space to move possession forward. The thread is his decision between a carry and a pass when he receives beyond the opposing midfield.
Dro Fernández currently plays for Paris Saint Germain as a central midfielder.
