Profile
Lucien Agoumé is a central midfielder whose revealing moments often come before an attack has begun. He can win a contest in midfield and leave a teammate able to advance against a defence still reorganising. That sequence, rather than a spectacular finish, helps explain his value: recovering possession can create the conditions for the next attack.
Born in Yaoundé, Cameroon, Agoumé developed at Sochaux and reached its senior side as a teenager. Inter signed him from the French club in July 2019. He made his Serie A debut that December, coming on late against Fiorentina. His route into regular senior football then ran largely through loans rather than an immediate place in Inter's first team.
Those loans took him to Spezia in Italy, then Brest and Troyes in France. The different leagues gave him senior playing time while he remained an Inter player. The sequence matters because his education was spread across several teams before he established a longer spell in Spain.
A January 2024 loan brought Agoumé to Sevilla. After that first half-season, the move became permanent in August 2024. The two transactions are distinct: the first was temporary, while the summer agreement transferred him from Inter. Sevilla was therefore another step in a career already tested in Serie A and Ligue 1, rather than his first top-flight opportunity.
His defensive work has a clear international example. In France's June 2025 Under-21 European Championship win over Poland, the French federation credited Agoumé with initiating the press that led to Djaoui Cissé's goal. Sevilla's September 2026 analysis also singled him out as a ball-recovery contributor. These are different settings, but both show how an intervention in central areas can begin a move before the final pass or shot.
Agoumé represented France through several youth levels. He was part of the side that finished third at the 2019 Under-17 World Cup, and played in four matches at the 2025 Under-21 European Championship. He started against Poland and Denmark, then entered from the bench in the semi-final defeat to Germany. That was participation in a team run, not an individual tournament award.
Lucien Agoumé currently plays for Sevilla as a central midfielder.
