Profile
Serhou Guirassy is a Guinean centre-forward who combines penalty-area finishing with the ability to connect an attack. He can move towards midfield to exchange passes, then turn and accelerate into the space that opens closer to goal.
Born in Arles on 12 March 1996, he developed at USM Montargis and J3 Amilly before entering Laval’s academy. His route to the top was gradual: a move to Lille brought limited opportunities, followed by a loan at Auxerre and a first spell in Germany with Cologne.
A return to France took him through Amiens to Rennes. In October 2020, he scored Rennes’ first Champions League goal, opening the scoring in a 1–1 draw with Krasnodar.
He joined Stuttgart on loan in 2022. His breakthrough there came in 2023/24, when he scored 28 goals in 28 Bundesliga appearances as Stuttgart finished second. That set a new club record for goals in a Bundesliga season, surpassing Mario Gomez’s 24 from 2008/09.
After joining Borussia Dortmund in July 2024, Guirassy finished joint top scorer of the 2024/25 Champions League with Raphinha, both on 13 goals. His hat-trick against Barcelona secured a 3–1 quarter-final second-leg win, though Dortmund lost the tie 5–3 on aggregate. In 2025/26, he scored 17 Bundesliga goals as Dortmund finished runners-up.
He represented France at youth level before making his senior Guinea debut against South Africa in March 2022. He later played at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, held in 2024, where Guinea reached the quarter-finals before losing 3–1 to DR Congo.
His February 2026 performance against Atalanta shows how his finishing and link play work together. UEFA’s analysis highlighted him waiting beside a midfielder before arriving between a wing-back and centre-back to head in a cross. For Dortmund’s other goal in the 2–0 first-leg win, he dropped deeper, exchanged passes with Felix Nmecha and ran down the left to supply Maximilian Beier. He could help build the attack and still provide its decisive touch.
Serhou Guirassy currently plays for Borussia Dortmund as a striker. He has represented Guinea internationally.
