Profile
Career & playing style
Samuele Inácio's route into senior football began in Bergamo. The son of former professional Pià, he developed in Atalanta's academy before moving to Borussia Dortmund's youth setup in 2024. Dortmund used him across its under-17, under-19 and under-23 sides. His senior introduction therefore followed work at several levels.
The step into Dortmund's Bundesliga side came in the 2025/26 season. He made his league debut against Bayern Munich on 28 February 2026 and scored his first league goal against Eintracht Frankfurt in May. Dortmund staff describe a player who spots space early, chooses when to hold the ball and combines securely with teammates around him.
Inácio can connect an attack from an advanced central position or move into a wide channel. In tight areas, his close control buys time for a passing option; when the defence opens, he can carry the ball into the transition or run beyond it. Those are different ways of exploiting the same read of space.
Italy's 2025 European Under-17 Championship showed those habits in a defined role. UEFA's technical observers placed him at the tip of a midfield diamond and highlighted his movement into wide combinations, runs behind defenders and work without the ball. He scored five goals in the finals to finish as their leading scorer and was named to UEFA's Team of the Tournament. Italy exited on penalties to Portugal in the semi-finals.
Later in 2025, Inácio was part of Italy's third-place finish at the Under-17 World Cup. His path through the national age groups continued in March 2026, when he scored against Türkiye in an Under-19 European Championship qualifier that secured Italy's place in the finals. He did not travel with Italy's squad to the finals that summer.
In June 2026, he moved from youth international football to the senior Italy side. Called up for the friendly squad, he made his first senior appearance as a late substitute against Luxembourg on 3 June. In September, he scored twice for Dortmund against HEBC in the German Cup, another example of his ability to arrive in scoring positions while contributing to combination play.
