Profile
Hugo Larsson is a Swedish central midfielder whose game connects the first pass out of defence to the next phase of an attack. He can play as a deeper six or a more mobile eight. The difference matters: he is comfortable showing for the ball near his defenders, but his running also lets him cover ground beyond that starting position.
His route began in southern Sweden, through SoGK Charlo and Ystads IF before Malmö FF's academy. Larsson made his Malmö first-team debut in a Swedish Cup tie in February 2022. He came on during that year's final against Hammarby, stayed on through the penalty shootout and shared in Malmö's cup win. His first Allsvenskan season also brought the league's Young Player of the Year award.
Eintracht Frankfurt signed him ahead of the 2023/24 Bundesliga season. He made his league debut against Cologne that September and scored his first Bundesliga goal with a long-range shot against Heidenheim the following month. Frankfurt's coach highlighted his running and ball recovery after that match: the young midfielder could help the team regain possession as well as carry its attacks forward.
At Malmö, Larsson often offered an early passing option in front of the defence. He asked for the ball deep and moved it accurately towards teammates in attacking areas. That combination explains his value: he can give a back line a short route out, then help the next pass reach a more advanced player. His range and reading of play also support the work without the ball.
He developed into a regular part of Frankfurt's midfield. In 2024/25 the club finished third in the Bundesliga and reached the Europa League quarter-finals. Larsson started the second leg against Tottenham Hotspur, though Frankfurt lost the tie.
Larsson made his senior Sweden debut against Finland in January 2023. He was not in Sweden's squad for the 2026 World Cup. On 1 September 2026, Frankfurt and Fulham announced his move to London, beginning with a loan period. After three seasons in Frankfurt, the move gave his midfield game a new league in which to develop.
Hugo Larsson currently plays for Fulham as a midfielder. He has represented Sweden internationally.
