Career & playing style
Can Uzun is a Türkiye international whose attacking game combines creation and finishing. He prefers to work just left of the centre, behind the main striker, where he can exchange short passes and make room for a shot. His movement into those spaces and willingness to shoot from distance give him ways to threaten without waiting for service inside the penalty area.
Born in Regensburg, Uzun developed through Jahn Regensburg and Ingolstadt before joining Nürnberg's academy in 2019. He progressed through the youth teams and made his second-division debut against Magdeburg in May 2023. That route brought him into senior football through a club where his scoring soon became an important part of the attack.
His breakthrough came in 2023/24, when he scored 16 league goals for Nürnberg. He also struck a hat-trick against Oberneuland in the German Cup, becoming the competition's youngest hat-trick scorer. His league goals accounted for more than a third of Nürnberg's total that season.
Uzun moved to Eintracht Frankfurt in July 2024. The step into the Bundesliga required an adjustment, but his second season began with goals in each of the team's first five league matches. His contribution also extended beyond finishing: the Bundesliga's assessment highlighted incisive short passing and movement into the spaces his coach wanted him to occupy.
Although his football education took place in Germany, Uzun represented Türkiye through the youth ranks and made his senior international debut against Hungary in March 2024. In June 2026, he scored his first senior international goal in a 4–0 friendly win over North Macedonia and also supplied an assist, before being named in the final World Cup squad.
At the 2026 World Cup, he came off the bench against Paraguay. Türkiye lost that group match 1–0 and were eliminated from contention for the knockout rounds. He came on again late in the final group game, a 3–2 win over the United States, and his low pass into the six-yard box led to Kaan Ayhan's stoppage-time winner.
