Profile
Davide Bartesaghi is a left-footed defender whose work on the flank links two jobs: giving his team an outlet outside and helping it play forward from deeper positions. AC Milan has highlighted his delivery from wide areas, while its account of his Italy debut described useful build-up play in midfield. He can offer width and a route inside.
His route through Milan began long before his first-team appearances. After time in Atalanta's youth setup, he joined Milan's younger age groups in 2012 and reached the Primavera side in 2022/23. That team advanced to the UEFA Youth League final four.
Milan promoted Bartesaghi into the senior setup in summer 2023. He made his Serie A debut against Hellas Verona on 23 September and appeared in the Champions League victory at Newcastle that December. He also continued in youth football: he started Milan's 2024 UEFA Youth League final against Olympiacos, which Milan lost 3-0.
In 2024/25, his pathway also ran through Milan Futuro, where he scored his first professional goal against Legnago. He took on a larger first-team role in 2025/26. That season, Milan used him regularly on the left under Massimiliano Allegri.
The clearest attacking example came against Sassuolo on 14 December 2025. Starting on the left in Milan's 3-5-2, Bartesaghi reached a low cross from Ruben Loftus-Cheek to equalise, then finished a pass from Christopher Nkunku after half-time. They were his first two Serie A goals, though Sassuolo recovered for a 2-2 draw. The two finishes illustrate his runs from wide positions into the box.
Italy had already tested that left-sided movement at youth level. At the 2024 Under-19 European Championship, Bartesaghi carried the ball down the outside left in the semi-final against Spain and supplied a chance that Kevin Zeroli put narrowly wide. Italy lost after extra time; the match was a step in his national-team path.
He made his senior Italy debut in the 1-0 friendly win away to Luxembourg on 3 June 2026. The federation's match record lists him in the starting XI at left-back and shows he was replaced late in the game. Milan's account also noted his contribution to build-up play. Both examples show how he advances play from the left.
Davide Bartesaghi currently plays for AC Milan as a left wing-back. He has represented Italy internationally.
