Career & playing style
Francisco Conceição is a Portuguese winger whose strongest foot and preferred flank give defenders an awkward choice. Starting on the right, he can carry the ball inside onto his left foot to shoot or release a teammate. Quick changes of direction also let him attack either side of an opponent, rather than relying on the inward run alone.
His football education included Sporting's youth system before he developed at Porto. He reached Porto's first team in 2021 and appeared against Juventus in the Champions League that February. A move to Ajax followed in summer 2022, before he returned to Porto after one season in the Netherlands.
Conceição joined Juventus on loan in August 2024. That spell extended to the 2025 Club World Cup, where he scored twice against Al Ain. Juventus announced his permanent signing from Porto on 22 July 2025.
His EURO 2024 contribution included a decisive intervention from the bench against Czechia on 18 June. With Portugal level in added time, Pedro Neto's cross was blocked into his path and he finished from close range to secure a 2–1 win. It was an example of arriving to finish an attack rather than creating it through a dribble.
Against Germany in the Nations League semi-final on 4 June 2025, he supplied the other kind of threat. After coming on, he moved to receive from Rúben Dias, drove inward from the right and curled in the equaliser. UEFA's technical analysis highlighted how teammates' movement gave him room to attack one against one. He received the match's individual award as Portugal won 2–1; the team then beat Spain on penalties to claim the title.
He was selected for Portugal's 2026 World Cup squad. The campaign ended in the round of 16 with a 1–0 defeat by Spain on 6 July, a different outcome from the previous year's Nations League final against the same opponents.
Another milestone followed in September 2026, when his goal against Roma received Goal of the Year recognition at the Gran Galà del Calcio. The strike had brought Juventus level during their 3–3 draw in Rome that March.
