Profile
Amine Gouiri is a centre-forward who helps an attack connect as well as finish. He likes to come towards the ball and combine in tight spaces, but can also turn and run behind a defence. That movement gives teammates two options: a short pass into his feet or a ball into the space he has opened.
His route to senior football ran through Lyon's academy. He made his Ligue 1 debut there at 17, while he also scored for France's youth sides. At the 2017 European Under-17 Championship, he finished as the finals' leading scorer with eight goals. France went out in the quarter-finals.
Gouiri moved from Lyon to Nice in July 2020 and scored twice against Lens on his Nice debut. The move gave him a longer run in senior football and room to show more than penalty-area finishing. His first season brought goals and assists across the attack; he was also voted the club's player of that season by supporters.
Rennes signed him in September 2022. Their technical staff highlighted his ability to beat a defender in a small space and then combine with another attacker. A Europa League game against Fenerbahçe, in which he scored twice and provided an assist, showed how that skill could turn possession into chances. He left Rennes for Marseille on a permanent transfer in January 2025.
At Marseille, Gouiri described playing as a number nine with some of a number ten's habits: getting touches, combining, running in behind and being involved at both ends of an attack. His hat-trick against Brest in April 2025 included an overhead kick, but his own account also stressed the less spectacular work of finding chances and becoming a more consistent finisher.
After representing France at youth level, Gouiri began playing for Algeria in October 2023. In the June 2026 World Cup group match against Jordan, he reacted to a loose ball after a corner and scored the goal that completed Algeria's 2-1 comeback. Algeria later reached the round of 32, where Switzerland ended their campaign. The Jordan finish captured another side of his game: a forward who can join the buildup still has to be alert when a chance falls nearby.
Amine Gouiri currently plays for Marseille as a forward. He has represented Algeria internationally.
