Profile
Kang-In Lee is a left-footed midfielder with more than one starting point for an attack. He can receive between the lines or begin from either wing, then use close control and vision to find a teammate or make room for a shot. His position on a team sheet reveals less than his decisions after receiving the ball.
Born in Incheon, Lee moved to Spain to join Valencia's academy in 2011. His first-team debut came in a Copa del Rey match in October 2018, and he was part of Valencia's cup-winning side that season.
Lee joined Mallorca in 2021 and spent two seasons there. He was used mainly on the wings, but could also move into central positions. From wide areas, his left foot offered a route back inside to combine; between the lines, he could receive nearer the forwards. That flexibility made his position less important than the space he found.
Paris Saint-Germain signed him in July 2023. During his spell there, Paris won the 2024–25 Champions League, but one of Lee's clearest individual moments came in the August 2025 UEFA Super Cup. Entering as a substitute against Tottenham, he struck from the edge of the area to begin a late comeback; Paris then drew level and won on penalties.
Paris added a second consecutive Champions League title in May 2026. Lee's individual recognition had already come in October 2025, when the Asian Football Confederation named him Asian International Player of the Year.
For South Korea, Lee received the Golden Ball when the team finished runner-up at the 2019 FIFA Under-20 World Cup. He was also part of the under-23 side that won Asian Games gold in the event staged in 2023. At the senior 2023 Asian Cup, played in 2024, he scored twice against Bahrain; he later played at the 2026 World Cup.
In July 2026, Lee moved permanently from Paris to Atlético Madrid. His path through Valencia, Mallorca and Paris explains his range better than one position label: he has worked from the wing and through the middle, creating with his left foot and threatening a shot when space opens in front of him.
Lee Kang-In currently plays for Atletico Madrid as a midfielder. He has represented South Korea internationally.
