Profile
Ibrahim Mbaye is a Senegal international forward whose direct running can turn space behind a defence into a route to goal. A right-footed attacker developed at Paris Saint-Germain, he can threaten an opponent with a run beyond the back line or help a teammate advance through a short passing combination.
The second approach was visible against Barcelona in October 2025. In the move that produced Senny Mayulu’s equaliser, Mbaye dropped towards the ball and exchanged passes with Nuno Mendes, leaving room for the full-back to surge forward. His movement helped create the opening, even though he neither scored nor supplied the last pass.
Born in Trappes, Mbaye began playing at ES Guyancourt and spent time at FC Versailles before joining PSG’s academy in 2018. His route into senior football therefore grew out of the Paris region’s youth clubs, followed by several years inside the same academy.
Mbaye made his professional debut against Le Havre on 16 August 2024. He scored his first PSG goal against Saint-Étienne on 29 March 2025, during a 6–1 league win.
His early club career also included French league titles in 2025 and 2026, a Coupe de France success in 2025, two Champions League titles, two UEFA Super Cups and an Intercontinental Cup. He made his Champions League debut against Atalanta in the 2025–26 season, adding European experience to his domestic development. He subsequently moved from PSG to Aston Villa in 2026.
After representing France at youth level, Mbaye made his senior Senegal debut in November 2025. At the Africa Cup of Nations played across December 2025 and January 2026, he scored against Sudan in the last 16. Released into space, he accelerated away from the defence and finished to complete Senegal’s 3–1 win.
He also scored at the 2026 World Cup, coming off the bench against France and beating Théo Hernandez on the right before finishing with his right foot. Senegal lost that match 3–1 and later exited against Belgium in the round of 32. The goal nevertheless offered another clear example of Mbaye’s ability to carry a threat directly into the penalty area.
