Profile
Paris Brunner is a German striker whose scoring is not confined to one kind of chance. He can arrive close to goal to finish a cross, but he has also carried the ball past a defender to create the shot himself.
Born in Dortmund, Brunner spent time in the Rot-Weiss Essen and VfL Bochum academies before completing his youth training at Borussia Dortmund. He moved up from Dortmund's under-17 side to its under-19s while still 16.
His Germany under-17 campaign in 2023 brought both a team title and individual recognition. Germany beat France on penalties to win the European championship, and UEFA named Brunner its Player of the Tournament. He shared the finals scoring lead with three other players. Germany also won that year's under-17 World Cup.
Monaco signed him from Dortmund in August 2024 and sent him to Cercle Brugge for the 2024/25 season. The loan gave him senior football in Belgium. In the first leg of the relegation play-off against Patro Eisden in May 2025, he rounded the goalkeeper and finished with his left foot, then met a cross from close range. Cercle won the tie and retained its top-flight place.
Brunner later represented Germany at the 2025 under-19 European Championship, where the team reached the semi-finals before losing to Spain after extra time. He captained Germany in that match.
A Monaco league match against Marseille on 30 August 2026 put his different finishing routes on display at senior level. He headed in Aleksandr Golovin's cross for the opener, then used a run, a change of direction and feints to make space for the second goal. His own explanation of the move centred on spotting space behind the defender and using his body to win the race.
On 26 September 2026, Brunner made his Germany under-21 debut in a European Championship qualifier against Latvia and scored twice. One finish came from close range inside the first minute; the other was a low shot from the edge of the area. The two goals offered another example of the varied positions from which he can threaten goal.
Paris Brunner currently plays for Monaco as a striker.
