Profile
Mousa Al-Tamari gives a team a direct way to move the ball upfield. A left-footed attacker who has often played from the right, he carries possession at a retreating defender, accelerates into space and either shoots or releases a teammate. Montpellier described the repeated attacking runs and defensive recoveries behind his early impact in France. His run and pass against Korea Republic in the 2024 Asian Cup showed how that directness creates chances for others.
Born in Amman, Al-Tamari began his senior career with Shabab Al-Ordon and also played for Al-Jazira before moving to Europe. APOEL Nicosia brought him to Cyprus in 2018, and OH Leuven took him to Belgium in 2020. Those moves exposed him to different leagues while his ability to carry the ball into space remained central to his game.
Montpellier signed him from Leuven in June 2023, making him the French club's first Jordanian player. His first Ligue 1 goals came as a pair in a 4–1 win away to Lyon that August. Montpellier later identified him as the first Jordanian to score in the league. The goals showed a threat that combined a run at defenders with a finish.
Jordan's run to the 2024 Asian Cup final gave that threat a bigger stage. In the semi-final against Korea Republic, Al-Tamari set up Yazan Al-Naimat, then scored Jordan's second goal after a surging run. It sent Jordan to its first final; Qatar then won the final 3–1. He turned transitions into decisive actions, rather than simply occupying a wide position.
Rennes signed him from Montpellier in February 2025. The club highlighted his acceleration and ability to unsettle defenders, qualities that had travelled from Belgium to Ligue 1. The transfer marked another step in his club career, while his role for Jordan remained separate from anything he achieved with a club.
He was selected for Jordan's first World Cup squad in 2026 and then played at the tournament. Coming off the bench against Argentina in June, he scored Jordan's goal in a 3–1 group-stage defeat. Jordan exited without a point, but the goal supplied a clear moment from its debut campaign. Across these international milestones, Al-Tamari's value is most visible when a run forces a defender to commit and makes room for a finish or a final pass.
Musa Al-Taamari currently plays for Rennes as a right winger. He has represented Jordan internationally.
