Profile
Ludovic Blas is a left-footed attacking midfielder who has also worked from the right. He can draw a defender toward the ball and release a teammate, or take the space for his own shot. Rennes describe him as a creative technician; match reports show how passing and finishing fit together.
His development took him through Guingamp before a move to Nantes. The French federation lists him as a midfielder and records his youth internationals, and the 2016 European Under-19 Championship gave him an early defining moment. He started the final against Italy and headed France's second goal in a 4–0 victory. That was a contribution to a youth team title, not a senior France appearance.
Blas joined Nantes in September 2019. In May 2022, his goal supplied the only goal of the Coupe de France final against Nice, giving Nantes the trophy. The club reached the final again in 2023; he scored against Toulouse, but Nantes lost 5–1. He influenced both finals, while only the first ended with a team honour.
The detail in his attacking game often lies in timing. In a 2016 France Under-19 match against the Netherlands, his work on the right preceded a Kylian Mbappé finish. A Rennes report later described Blas holding a defender before feeding Lorenz Assignon. One action opened a route to goal and the other created a shooting chance.
He moved from Nantes to Rennes in July 2023. Against Maccabi Haifa that September, he controlled the ball and struck a left-footed volley from distance inside the opening minute of a 3–0 Europa League win. The goal showed the other half of his game: a brief shooting window can be enough for him to finish.
His Rennes spell brought a test of his place in the side. Ligue 1 reported that Blas spent a stretch of 2025–26 outside the starting lineup before returning under Franck Haise. He scored in the April 2026 win at Brest, and Haise singled out his work rate alongside his technique. His role cannot be reduced to highlight shots alone.
In September 2026, Martinique's football league named him in its Concacaf Nations League squad, following his earlier France youth career. Across Guingamp, Nantes and Rennes, Blas has been used in different attacking positions. The constant is a left-footed player who can create an angle for a teammate and recognise when to use it himself.
Ludovic Blas currently plays for Rennes as a right winger. He has represented Martinique internationally.
