Profile
Mohamed Belloumi is a right-sided attacker who can make a chance in two different ways: by carrying at a defender or by releasing a runner early. In a 2026 league match at Coventry, he controlled the ball inside his own half and sent Liam Millar through for the winning goal. The pass shows why a winger's influence need not begin beside the opposition penalty area.
His route through Portuguese football began with Farense's under-23 side after he arrived in Faro in 2021. The club later described his progression into its first team, and marked his Primeira Liga debut in August 2023. Its account of that debut recorded shots, completed dribbles and interceptions: even in a short first appearance, his contribution stretched across more than one attacking action.
Belloumi scored in Farense's 5-0 home win over Chaves in August 2023, one of four first-half scorers in that match. Farense's farewell notice the following August placed that breakthrough in a wider spell of first-team football and confirmed his move to Hull City. His transfer followed several years of development in Portugal; it did not mark the beginning of his senior career.
A goal against Millwall in the May 2026 Championship play-off semi-finals helped Hull reach Wembley. Hull then won the final to secure promotion to the Premier League. Those were team achievements; the semi-final goal was Belloumi's specific contribution. His role in the play-offs links his earlier development to the club's return to the top flight.
In August 2026 at Coventry, Belloumi's pass for Millar came after a fast transition from deep. The following month at Chelsea, he scored twice in six first-half minutes during a 2-2 draw. Chelsea's match report describes two different finishes: a measured strike after a cross was misjudged, then an effort from a loose ball after a corner. He did not need an identical route to goal for each finish.
The Premier League shortlisted him for its September 2026 Player of the Month award, pointing to his pace and defensive work as well as his attacking returns. That was a nomination, not the award itself. Across the Coventry and Chelsea matches, the more useful picture is of a winger who can help a compact side escape pressure, attack space quickly and still arrive in the box to finish a move.
Mohamed Belloumi currently plays for Hull City as a right winger. He has represented Algeria internationally.
