Overview

Wisla Krakow in brief

Wisla Krakow, in full Towarzystwo Sportowe Wisla Krakow, were founded in 1906 in Krakow, when pupils of the city's Second Practical School, encouraged by their teacher Tadeusz Lopuszanski, formed a football club. The club is named after the Wisla, the Polish name for the Vistula, the river that flows through Krakow. The team play in red, white and blue, and the white star on the club crest gives them their nickname, Biala Gwiazda, the White Star. Home matches are played at the Henryk Reyman Municipal Stadium on Reymonta Street, known since January 2026 by its sponsored name, Synerise Arena Krakow.

Wisla have won 13 Polish championships, the fourth-highest total: in 1927, 1928, 1949, 1950 and 1978, and then eight between 1999 and 2011. They also topped the league in 1951, but the title went to cup winners Ruch Chorzow. Wisla have won five Polish Cups (1926, 1967, 2002, 2003 and 2024), the Polish Super Cup in 2001 and the Polish League Cup in 2001. Relegated in 2022 after 26 years in the top flight, they won the 2024 Polish Cup as a second-tier side and returned as I liga champions in 2026. In Europe they reached the European Cup quarter-finals in 1978-79 and the UEFA Cup last 16 in 2002-03.
