Castellón

CD Castellon were founded in July 1922 in Castellon de la Plana, when the general meeting of SD Cervantes agreed to change its name, first to Castellon Club de Futbol and almost at once to Club Deportivo Castellon. The black and white kit arrived in 1925, chosen to avoid wearing the same colours as Valencia, hence Albinegros. Home is the Castalia, opened in 1987 on the site of the old ground and known as Estadio SkyFi Castalia since a naming-rights deal in 2024.

Castellon have spent 11 seasons in La Liga, with a best finish of fourth in 1942-43. Fifth place in 1972-73, the club's golden-jubilee season, came with a Copa del Rey final, lost 2-0 to Athletic Club. They won the Segunda Division in 1980-81 and 1988-89. Unpaid wages led to exclusion from the third tier in 2011, but promotions in 2020 and, as Primera Federacion group winners, in 2024 restored second-tier football. In 2025-26 they lost a promotion play-off semi-final to Almeria.
