Overview

PAU in brief

Pau FC trace their roots to the Bleuets de Notre-Dame, a parish club created in 1920 in the Mayolis district of Pau. The Football-Club de Pau was founded on 19 May 1959, and after insolvency the club was re-established as Pau Football Club in 1995. They play in yellow and blue and are nicknamed Les Maynats. Since 2018 their home has been the Nouste Camp, Bearnais for "our ground", in Bizanos on the edge of Pau, which gave a long-nomadic club a permanent home.

Before 2020 Pau spent their history outside the professional divisions. They won Group C of the Championnat de France Amateur in 1998 and again in 2016, each time earning promotion to the Championnat National. Pau were top of the National when the 2019-20 season was halted by the COVID-19 pandemic and were promoted to Ligue 2 for the first time, although no title was awarded. That season they also knocked Bordeaux out of the Coupe de France with a 3-2 win in January 2020.
