Overview

SK Beveren in brief

SK Beveren are a football club from Beveren in East Flanders, playing in yellow and blue at the Freethiel Stadion. The club was founded in 1936 as Red Star in Haasdonk, joined the Belgian FA in 1944 under matricule number 4068, and moved to Sint-Niklaas in 2002 as KV Red Star Waasland. In 2010 it moved to the Freethiel as Waasland-Beveren, and in 2022 it took the name SK Beveren under an agreement to share the identity of the town's original club.

That original club, KSK Beveren, registered under matricule number 2300, remains a separate club and keeps its own honours: Belgian league titles in 1979 and 1984 and Belgian Cups in 1978 and 1983. Goalkeeper Jean-Marie Pfaff won the Golden Shoe as a KSK Beveren player in 1978. KSK's men's team stopped playing in 2010 and returned in 2022, after the agreement freed its registration for men's football again.
