The club fell inactive in 1908, was reorganised on 15 August 1911 and has been called Clube do Remo since 1914. Navy blue is the club colour and the nickname is Leao Azul, the Blue Lion. Remo play home matches at the Mangueirao, officially the Estadio Estadual Jornalista Edgar Augusto Proenca, and at the smaller Baenao.

Remo's first national title was Serie C in 2005, and they also won the regional Copa Verde in 2021 and the Torneio do Norte in 1968, 1969 and 1971. They were Serie B runners-up in 1971 and 1984. After an absence from the top flight that began after the 1994 season, Remo finished fourth in Serie B in 2025 and sealed promotion on 23 November with a 3-1 win over Goias at the Mangueirao, returning to Serie A for 2026.
