Overview

Artis Brno in brief

The club was founded in 1924 as SK Ceskoslovensky socialista Lisen. Its founders were young workers and students from Lisen, which was then a separate market town and only became part of Brno in 1944. The name was shortened to SK Lisen in 1936, and for most of the communist era the club was called Spartak. It went back to SK Lisen in 1990. Businessman Igor Fait bought the club in November 2024. In May 2025 it was renamed SK Artis Brno, and its first-team games moved from Lisen to the city stadium on Srbska street, which it shares with Zbrojovka Brno. That ground has been called ShipEx Arena since the 2025-26 season.

The club first drew attention in October 2007: as a fourth-tier side, it knocked Slavia Prague, who were leading the league and playing in the Champions League at the time, out of the Czech Cup with a 4-3 win. Lisen won the Moravian-Silesian Football League in 2018-19, earning promotion to the second tier, and finished second there in 2020-21. In 2025-26 the club lost a promotion play-off to Slovacko 1-4 and 0-3. MFK Karvina were then expelled from the top flight over match-influencing, and after Taborsko turned down the place, Artis accepted it on 3 July 2026.
