Overview

Strasbourg in brief

Founded in 1906 in Strasbourg's Neudorf district, Racing Club de Strasbourg developed in a border city whose political and cultural history shaped its identity. Known simply as Le Racing, the club wear blue and white and represent Alsace on the national stage. Their home is the Stade de la Meinau, located near the club's birthplace and used by Racing since the early 20th century.

Strasbourg won the French championship in 1978-79 under Gilbert Gress, with captain Jacky Dugueperoux leading a balanced side rooted in Alsatian football. The club have also won three Coupes de France, four Coupes de la Ligue and the 1995 UEFA Intertoto Cup. Their trophy history is spread across distinct eras, including a rise from the fifth tier back to Ligue 1 after financial collapse in 2011.
