Overview

Kristiansund BK in brief

Kristiansund BK, usually shortened to KBK, are the senior football club of the coastal town of Kristiansund in Nordmore. The club, whose full name is Kristiansund Ballklubb, was founded on 2 September 2003. The town's two rival clubs, Kristiansund FK and Clausenengen FK, agreed to combine their first teams in a new elite side, an idea put forward by the local bank SpareBank 1 Nordvest. KBK play in navy blue and are nicknamed Uglan (The Owls), after their supporters' club. Home matches are played at Nordmore stadion in the Karihola district. The ground was called Gressbanen until 2014 and Kristiansund stadion until 2022.

KBK started in the fourth-tier 3. divisjon in 2004 and won promotion to the 2. divisjon in 2005. In 2012 they went 21 matches unbeaten on the way to winning their 2. divisjon group. In 2016 they won the 1. divisjon, earning a first season in Eliteserien, and their best league finishes are fifth place in 2018 and 2020. After relegation in 2022 they came straight back up in 2023. The club has not won a major trophy. Its best Norwegian Football Cup run came in 2025: KBK beat Molde after extra time, reached a first semi-final and then lost 2-0 away to Lillestrom.
