Overview
Motor Lublin in brief
Motor Lublin are a professional football club from Lublin in eastern Poland. The club was founded in December 1950 by workers building the city's FSC lorry factory, playing at first as Stal, and took the name Motor in 1957, keeping its link with the motor industry. The team wear yellow, white and blue, which gives them the nickname Zolto-Bialo-Niebiescy (the Yellow, White and Blues); they are also called Motorowcy. Since 2014 they have played at the municipal stadium on Stadionowa Street in Lublin. It opened as Arena Lublin and has been called Motor Lublin Arena since February 2025, under a naming-rights deal held by the club itself.
Motor have never won a major national trophy. Their best years came in the 1980s. Second-tier titles in 1979-80 under coach Bronislaw Waligora and in 1982-83 under Leslaw Cmikiewicz took them into the top flight, and they spent nine seasons in the Ekstraklasa between 1980 and 1992. In 1982 they played in the Intertoto Cup, finishing third in a group with Lyngby, MSV Duisburg and FC Luzern. After relegation in 1992 Motor spent 32 seasons outside the top flight. They returned in 2024 after winning promotion through the play-offs in two successive seasons, and finished seventh in 2024-25, their best Ekstraklasa placing. They have reached the Polish Cup quarter-finals three times.
