Overview

Eyüpspor in brief

Founded in 1919, Eyupspor are a football club from the Eyupsultan district of Istanbul, on the Golden Horn. The purple-and-yellow team have long been regarded as a neighbourhood side with a strong local following, and their crest is a purple-and-yellow shield carrying the club name and founding year. Their traditional home is the Eyup Stadium; since reaching the top flight, the club have staged home matches at other Istanbul venues, including the Recep Tayyip Erdogan Stadium, Pendik Stadium and the Necmi Kadioglu Stadium in Esenyurt.

Eyupspor took part in the Istanbul Football League in the 1930s and entered the national league system in 1970. A third-tier group title in 1986-87 took them up to the second tier, and a fourth-tier title came in 2014-15. Their modern rise brought the 2020-21 TFF Second League Red Group title and, in 2023-24, the TFF First League championship and a first promotion to the Super Lig. Their debut top-flight season in 2024-25 ended in sixth place, ahead of long-established clubs such as Trabzonspor.
