Match report
Twente overturn early deficit to sink PEC Zwolle
Twente came from behind to beat PEC Zwolle 3-1 at De Grolsch Veste in an Eredivisie matchday two fixture, dominating for long spells before an own goal and a late strike put the result beyond doubt.
AI-assisted match report written from official match data.
Zwolle struck first when Elias Sørensen finished from a Thijs Oosting assist in the 21st minute to make it 0-1. Twente responded before the break through Daouda Weidmann, set up by Sondre Ørjasæter, levelling matters at 1-1 by half-time.
The hosts turned the contest in the second half. Dylan Mbayo diverted the ball into his own net in the 59th minute to hand Twente a 2-1 lead, and Daan Rots added a third in the 69th minute, converting a Ramiz Zerrouki assist to make it 3-1, a scoreline that held to the final whistle.
Twente's dominance was reflected across the match statistics, with the home side controlling the ball for long periods and creating far more chances than their visitors managed throughout.
Daan Rots scored the decisive third goal and finished with a rating of 8.2, matched only by fellow scorer Daouda Weidmann among Twente's performers.
Twente's 69% share of possession underlined their control of the match from start to finish.

Sirius · Why these numbers
Before kick-off Sirius gave Twente 74%, the draw 16%, PEC Zwolle 10%. It finished Twente 3–1 PEC Zwolle.
Twente's rating gap decides it — Twente are clearly the stronger side on our strength rating, and that is most of Twente's 74%. The draw at 16% is lifted by the early-season fade in home wins.
Why Twente at 74%?
Twente sit 300 points higher on our strength rating — 1761 to 1461. Sides with a 200–300-point rating edge at home won 67.0% of 5,930 such games. The 300 most similar past games finished 78–14–8.
Why not higher?
Both sides are inside their first six league games — home wins land softer this early in the season, so this trims Twente's column. Across 10,596 opening-stretch games since 2010, home sides won 42.8% where the rating map expected 44.9%, with draws up 2.1 — negative in every season since 2018.
Why is the draw only 16%?
With a rating gap this size the draw starts at 15.4%. These teams' recent games average 3.6 goals — a high-scoring environment. Games in that environment drew 22.8% of 16,927. Early-season fixtures add 2.1 points to the draw. The goals environment takes 1.3 points off the draw.
What did we measure but not count?
Twente average 11 points more possession, but the rating gap here is 300 points. Our control receipt only exists between near-equals — there it moved results; across a class gap we could not measure a separate style edge, so style scores 0 here. PEC Zwolle are winless in their last 9 visits to Twente. "Cursed ground" stories don't survive the receipts: winless visitors won 20.5% of 5,614 return visits vs 21.4% class-expected — the rating's own read already covers it. The other measured facts on this page scored nothing either.
