Sirius · Why these numbers
Before kick-off Sirius gave Anderlecht 35%, the draw 26%, Lyon 39%. It finished Anderlecht 1–2 Lyon.
Lyon's rating edge outweighs Anderlecht's home ground — Lyon are the stronger side on our strength rating, and that is most of Lyon's 39%. The draw at 26% is trimmed by a league that produces few draws.
Why Lyon at 39%?
Lyon sit 139 points higher on our strength rating — 1727 to 1867. Sides with a 100–200-point rating edge on the road won 40.1% of 13,179 such games. The 300 most similar past games finished 30–28–42.
Why only 39%?
UEFA Europa League home sides out-perform the global norm — and the difference mostly flows to draws (22.8% vs 24.9% norm). UEFA Europa League homes won 47.6% of 4,438 games vs 44.9% across all 100,233 — outside the noise band, so the tally moves accordingly.
Why the draw at 26%?
With a rating gap this size the draw starts at 27.2%. These teams' recent games average 2.4 goals — a typical goals environment. Games in that environment drew 26.2% of 27,835. UEFA Europa League produces fewer draws than most, taking 2.1 points off. The goals environment adds 1.3 points to the draw.
What did we measure but not count?
Lyon have shed 70 strength-rating points over their last 10 games. Momentum is measured but not yet proven: sliding sides won 34.7% of 9,758 such games vs 34.6% class-expected — inside the noise band, so it stays at 0 points until the receipt clears its evidence bar. Anderlecht are missing 2 regular starters — Giulian Biancone, Lukáš Ambros — about 21% of their usual starting-XI weight. Our measured receipt covers one-sided absences only, and the picture here isn't one-sided — both squads are short. The other measured facts on this page scored nothing either.
