Profile
Benjamin Šeško is a Slovenian striker whose size and speed give him different routes to goal. He can attack crosses above defenders or race into the space behind them. His finishing range includes powerful shots from distance as well as headers and strikes with either foot.
Born on 31 May 2003, he developed at Slovenian clubs including Krško and Domžale before joining Salzburg in 2019. Two seasons on loan at Liefering gave him senior experience in Austria. His breakthrough at Salzburg followed in 2021/22, when he helped the club win the league and cup double.
He moved to RB Leipzig in July 2023. His first Bundesliga season ended with 14 goals, including a goal in each of the final seven matches.
His senior Slovenia debut came in June 2021. Five goals in qualifying helped the national team reach Euro 2024, where it advanced to the knockout stage for the first time. Šeško played in the last-16 tie against Portugal, which Slovenia lost on penalties after a goalless draw.
Manchester United signed him in August 2025. He finished his first season, 2025/26, with 12 goals in all competitions, sharing the club’s leading-scorer position with Bryan Mbeumo.
His early United goals illustrate the different problems he can pose. Against Crystal Palace in March 2026, he met Bruno Fernandes’s curling cross with a winning header. The previous month at Everton, he ran more than 50 yards to finish Mbeumo’s pass on a counterattack. One action rewards an accurate cross; the other uses his speed on the break.
He can also come towards the ball and help build an attack. Premier League analysis of his Leipzig years highlighted both this willingness to receive to feet and his runs beyond the last defender. The balance matters: his shooting from distance adds variety, but 13 of his 14 Bundesliga goals in 2023/24 came from inside the penalty area.
Benjamin Šeško currently plays for Manchester United as a striker. He has represented Slovenia internationally.
