Profile
Alex Scott’s route into professional football began in Guernsey. He travelled to English academy sessions as a child, spent time with Southampton and Bournemouth, then returned home when the journeys and limited playing time drained his enjoyment. Playing with friends at St Martin’s restored it. He appeared for Guernsey FC as a teenager before a Bristol City trial opened the next stage.
At Bristol City, Scott moved from the academy into Championship football while still a teenager. His 2022/23 season brought the division’s Young Player of the Season award and a place in its team of the season. Those honours marked an individual breakthrough, rather than a team trophy, and made his step into the Premier League a natural next test.
Bournemouth signed him from Bristol City in August 2023. His Premier League debut came against Wolverhampton Wanderers that October. He entered a side whose aggressive pressing creates midfield regains and quick breaks. That makes the transition from winning the ball to supplying the attack central to his role.
A Premier League analysis of a 2024 match located Scott’s recoveries high in midfield. Another traced a Bournemouth goal from a deep regain through his forward carry and pass to Antoine Semenyo. Those examples show the two halves of his game: closing space without the ball, then driving into it when his team wins possession. Scott himself has described dribbling, passing and competing for the ball as parts of his game.
His England youth career supplied two distinct milestones. Scott headed the equaliser against Italy in the 2022 Under-19 European Championship semi-final, and England went on to win that tournament. At the 2025 Under-21 finals he scored against Germany in the group stage; England later won the title. These were team successes in tournaments in which he played, not individual awards.
England first called Scott into the senior squad in November 2025. He joined a preparation camp before the 2026 World Cup but was not selected for the tournament squad and did not play in the camp’s warm-up matches. His senior playing debut came later: he entered as a substitute against Czechia in the Nations League on 29 September 2026. That sequence separates the early recognition from the moment he actually won a cap.
Alex Scott currently plays for Bournemouth as a midfielder. He has represented England internationally.
