Profile
Josh King is an attacking midfielder shaped by years in Fulham's academy. His useful trick is to receive the ball when a defender is already close: he can shield it, turn out of pressure and carry the attack forward. That gives teammates a passing option between the lines, while his ability to find a final pass makes the move dangerous beyond the first escape.
He progressed through Fulham's youth teams and played above his age group for the under-21s during 2023/24. The club named him its Scholar of the Year in 2024. He made the first-team bench around that period, but his playing debut came later.
King first played for Fulham's senior side in the League Cup win at Birmingham City in August 2024. In December, he made his Premier League debut as a substitute against Brighton.
Those close-control qualities give his side a way to progress when central passing lanes look closed. A midfielder who can protect possession with an opponent at his back does more than keep the ball; he can turn a crowded central area into a route toward goal. The space he opens gives forwards a passing lane.
During 2025/26, King became a more regular part of Fulham's Premier League side. He scored his first league goal in the 3-1 home win over Burnley on 21 March 2026. Goals are only part of his role, though: his carrying and passing still connect midfield to the forwards.
His England pathway also moved through the age groups. He played at the 2025 European Under-19 Championship, then joined the senior men's World Cup preparation camp in Florida in June 2026, although he was not named in England's 26-man squad for the finals.
By autumn 2026 he was appearing for England's under-21s in competitive qualifiers. He started against Kazakhstan on 25 September and came on against Slovakia on 2 October as England qualified for the 2027 Under-21 EURO.
Josh King currently plays for Fulham as an attacking midfielder. He has represented England internationally.
