Profile
Miloš Kerkez is a Hungary international whose left-back play is built around moving the attack up the pitch. He can run outside a winger to cross, cut inside that teammate to receive closer to goal, or carry the ball forward himself. That variety makes his movement useful before he even receives a pass.
His attacking contribution became particularly clear at Bournemouth. Against Manchester City in November 2024, he beat Phil Foden before pulling the ball back for Antoine Semenyo, then delivered across goal for Evanilson. The two assists illustrated how his running can end with a controlled pass into a dangerous area, rather than simply taking him further forward.
Born in Vrbas in Serbia, Kerkez qualified to represent Hungary through his grandmother. His senior career began at ETO FC Győr, followed by a move to AC Milan in 2021. There he played youth football, including UEFA Youth League matches against Liverpool, before moving to the Netherlands.
He joined AZ Alkmaar in January 2022 and initially played mainly for Jong AZ. A first start against Heerenveen in the European qualification play-offs helped establish him in the senior side. AZ described the following campaign as his breakthrough season when announcing his departure for Bournemouth in July 2023.
The move to England also demanded adjustment. Kerkez later described his first Bournemouth season as an education in the league’s intensity, training and the daily habits needed to perform consistently. His development involved defending as well as attacking: he spoke about improving his awareness and maintaining concentration throughout matches.
Liverpool completed his signing in June 2025. In his first interview, Kerkez explained that discussions with Arne Slot had covered both where he could help the team and where he could improve. It was another stage in a career shaped by moves between different football environments, from Hungarian senior football to Italy, the Netherlands and England.
His international debut came against Germany in September 2022. He went on to play at EURO 2024, including Hungary’s victory over Scotland. The next major tournament proved out of reach: Hungary failed to qualify for the 2026 World Cup after losing to the Republic of Ireland in November 2025, despite Kerkez supplying the cross for Barnabás Varga’s goal.
