Profile
Pedro Neto is a Portuguese winger whose main weapon is carrying the ball at speed. Predominantly left-footed, he can attack from either flank: on the outside he races towards the byline, then looks for a cut-back or a low pass across goal. He can also deliver curling crosses from the right, giving defenders more than one route to protect.
His development began in Viana do Castelo, where he played for Vianense while also pursuing roller hockey and swimming. He later joined Braga's academy. Neto has credited that hockey background with helping shape his low running posture and the way he shields the ball.
At 17, he scored on his Primeira Liga debut for Braga, becoming the club's youngest scorer in the competition. A loan at Lazio followed, but senior opportunities were scarce. His move to Wolves in August 2019 gave him a more substantial platform in first-team football.
He scored and assisted on his Wolves debut against Pyunik in Europa League qualifying, then won both the supporters' and players' Player of the Season awards for 2020/21. A knee injury in April 2021 and subsequent ankle and hamstring problems interrupted that progress.
Neto joined Chelsea in August 2024. His first season brought the Conference League and FIFA Club World Cup titles in 2025, with three goals in the latter tournament. A stoppage-time winner away to Fulham in April 2025 also became a defining moment, voted Chelsea's goal of that season.
In February 2026 he recorded his first senior hat-trick in a 4-0 FA Cup win at Hull City. The goals showed different ways he can threaten: a shot from distance, a corner that went straight in, and a finish after exchanging passes with Liam Delap.
For Portugal, he helped win the 2025 Nations League, supplying Nuno Mendes for an equaliser in the final against Spain. Portugal won on penalties after a 2-2 draw. Neto also started the 2026 World Cup round-of-16 tie against Spain, which ended Portugal's tournament in a 1-0 defeat.
Pedro Neto currently plays for Chelsea as a right winger. He has represented Portugal internationally.
