Profile
Omar Marmoush is an Egyptian forward whose movement connects the build-up with the space behind a defence. At Eintracht Frankfurt, he could drop towards the ball alongside Hugo Ekitiké, then accelerate into the channels. His threat was not confined to finishing: passing and dribbling also let him create chances, while well-timed runs made him a dangerous target for passes behind a high defensive line.
Marmoush grew up in Cairo and made his senior debut for Wadi Degla in July 2016. He moved to Wolfsburg in 2017, initially spending much of his time with the reserve side. Loans at St Pauli in 2020–21 and Stuttgart in 2021–22 gave him senior experience before he became a regular at Wolfsburg.
Eintracht Frankfurt signed him ahead of the 2023–24 season. There, his role expanded into that of a regular scorer and creator in a front two. His breakthrough gathered pace in 2024–25, when he won the Bundesliga’s Player of the Month awards for September and November.
He joined Manchester City in January 2025 and opened his scoring account with a hat-trick against Newcastle United the following month. A different side of his finishing brought another distinction: his long-range strike against Bournemouth in May was voted the Premier League’s Goal of the Season for 2024–25.
Marmoush contributed to City’s League Cup and FA Cup successes in 2025–26, starting the FA Cup final victory over Chelsea. In August 2026, he joined Tottenham Hotspur on loan from City, adding another English chapter to a career developed across Egypt and Germany.
His senior Egypt debut in October 2021 produced the winning goal against Libya in World Cup qualifying. He subsequently started the Africa Cup of Nations final against Senegal in February 2022, which Egypt lost on penalties. At the 2025 edition, completed in January 2026, Egypt finished fourth.
His first World Cup followed in 2026. Marmoush started the last-32 match against Australia as Egypt secured their first World Cup knockout victory on penalties. He then came off the bench in the last-16 defeat to Argentina, when Egypt’s two-goal lead became a 3–2 loss.
Omar Marmoush currently plays for Tottenham as a forward. He has represented Egypt internationally.
