Profile
Pablo García Fernández learned his football in Real Betis's academy, joining as a young child and advancing through the youth sides to Betis Deportivo. His route was built around scoring as well as wing play: Betis identified him as the leading scorer in its youth division before he moved into the reserve squad. He made his first La Liga appearance for the senior side in January 2025.
He is a winger who can operate on either flank, according to Racing Santander's account of his career. That flexibility matters because his threat is not limited to hugging one touchline. In Spain's youth teams, he has combined runs from wide areas with a readiness to shoot and an ability to make a final pass. Those are observed examples, rather than a claim that every attack follows the same pattern.
His most striking single match came in the June 2025 European Under-19 Championship semi-final against Germany. García scored four times in Spain's 6-5 extra-time win, including an equaliser direct from a corner and the winner in the 119th minute. One goal came at the end of a team move; the last followed Jan Virgili's pass. The variety shows why treating him only as a touchline runner misses part of his game.
Spain reached that Under-19 final but lost 1-0 to the Netherlands, with García in the starting side. UEFA subsequently named him in its Team of the Tournament. Those are separate achievements: the team finished runner-up, while the selection was an individual recognition for his work across the finals.
At the 2025 Under-20 World Cup, García started Spain's group match against Mexico and scored with his left foot after combining with Virgili. He later scored the goal that took Spain past Ukraine in the last 16. García also started the quarter-final against Colombia, where Spain's run ended with a 3-2 defeat. His impact in Chile was therefore match participation, not merely a squad place.
The progression continued at Under-21 level: Spain's federation records García scoring in qualifying wins over Cyprus in September 2025, Kosovo in March 2026 and twice against San Marino in October 2026. Those goals offer further evidence of his finishing in youth internationals, but they do not establish a fixed senior-team role. In September 2026, Betis and Racing Santander announced a permanent transfer, opening a new club chapter after his Betis breakthrough.
Pablo García currently plays for Racing Santander as a right winger.
