Juan Iglesias

Juan Iglesias earned his place in Spain's top division in stages. The Valladolid-born defender came through Real Valladolid's youth sides and played for its reserve team in Segunda División B while still a youth player in 2016/17. His route then ran through two more reserve sides before he became a regular first-team footballer.

He moved to UD Logroñés for the following season, initially joining its reserve side before reaching the senior team. By 2018/19 he was playing regularly in Segunda B and appeared in the promotion play-offs. Getafe brought him in during summer 2019 for Getafe B, where the club described him as a right-back.

His Getafe first-team entry also came in steps: a Copa del Rey debut against Anaitasuna in 2020/21, then a league debut against Atlético Madrid days later. He developed into a regular league option over the following seasons. In October 2025, a Fútbol Mahou vote named him Getafe's player of the month.

Right-back is his main position, but in a match at Elche he helped cover a defensive reshuffle. When Damián left the game, Iglesias moved to the right and substitute Amavi took the left. At his Sevilla presentation in July 2026, Iglesias said he had arrived as a right-back but had experience in other positions when a coach needed it.

His work going forward has included supplying the final ball into the box. In a Copa del Rey tie at Levante, his cross set up Munir's opening header for Getafe.

Sevilla announced an agreement to bring him in after his Getafe spell in June 2026. In a league match against Valencia that September, he provided the finish himself: Iglesias met Giorgi Kochorashvili's free-kick delivery with an 81st-minute header to settle a 1-0 win. That set-piece moment adds another dimension to the picture of a defender whose contributions are not confined to one end of the pitch.
