Profile
Christian Kofane is a Cameroonian centre-forward whose game combines physical strength with quick reactions around the penalty area. He can hold the ball up at the front of an attack, but also turn a defender's or goalkeeper's loose touch into a chance. Those different routes to goal were visible early in his European career.
His route to professional football ran through AS Nylon in Douala and then Albacete in Spain. He moved into Albacete's youth setup in 2024 through the relationship between the clubs. Six goals in six youth appearances preceded his promotion to the senior team, a rapid transition from development football to the Spanish second division.
On 11 January 2025, Kofane started his senior debut against Racing Santander and scored inside two minutes in a 2–2 draw. He finished that first spell with eight goals in 20 league appearances. The breakthrough was concentrated into the second half of the season, rather than built across a full campaign.
Bayer Leverkusen signed him in July 2025, taking him from the second tier in Spain into Champions League football. On 1 October, he scored against PSV Eindhoven after taking possession from Armando Obispo following a risky back-pass. The 1–1 draw brought his first Champions League goal, adding a European milestone to a year that had begun with his senior debut in Spain.
Three days later, against Union Berlin, he showed how his physical and opportunistic qualities could work together. He protected possession up front and threatened after a run down the right, then closed down Frederik Rönnow and took the ball from the goalkeeper to score. His first Bundesliga goal completed a 2–0 win: a chance created through pressure close to goal.
Kofane made his senior Cameroon debut against Côte d'Ivoire in December 2025 during the Africa Cup of Nations. He then scored against Mozambique and added a diving header in the 2–1 last-16 victory over South Africa on 4 January 2026. That finish offered another route to goal, meeting a delivery inside the box. He also played in the quarter-final, where Morocco ended Cameroon's tournament with a 2–0 win.
Christian Kofane currently plays for Bayer Leverkusen as a striker. He has represented Cameroon internationally.
