Profile
Career & playing style
Younes Ebnoutalib's route to the Bundesliga ran through three German divisions. Born in Frankfurt, he returned to his home city as a centre-forward whose rise had been built at FC Gießen and SV Elversberg.
His early football included local Frankfurt clubs and Wehen Wiesbaden's youth setup. A spell with Perugia in Italy was disrupted by a foot injury, and he returned to Germany to join fourth-tier Gießen in 2024. Ebnoutalib later described that move as the place where he regained his footing after a difficult period abroad.
Elversberg took him into the second division in January 2025. He initially had to learn behind another scoring striker, Fisnik Asllani, as he later recalled, but became a more prominent finisher in the following campaign. Twelve league goals in the first half of 2025/26 brought him to Eintracht Frankfurt's attention; he joined in January 2026.
His threat is more specific than simply being a tall target. Frankfurt's recruitment staff highlighted his strength in the penalty area, physical presence and work rate, while Ebnoutalib identified his pace and shooting as strengths. The combination lets him compete for a central position and then attack the loose ball or the space behind a defender. His three goals against Union Berlin came in different ways: a close-range recovery, a run onto a defensive error and a volley from a rebound.
The move produced an immediate milestone. On 9 January 2026, he started against Borussia Dortmund and scored on his Frankfurt Bundesliga debut after a through-ball from Arnaud Kalimuendo. A knee injury soon interrupted that first half-season, but the opening round of 2026/27 supplied a striking return: on 29 August he scored all three Frankfurt goals in a 3-3 draw at Union Berlin. Against Freiburg in September, he finished another move by arriving at the back post for a simple close-range touch.
Germany selected him for the senior squad in September 2026. On 24 September he came on after 30 minutes of the Nations League match in the Netherlands, then started against Greece three days later.
