Profile
Arthur Atta is a midfielder who can turn a tight central exchange into a forward carry. He has described enjoying quick passes in crowded areas before moving upfield, and his time on the flank at Udinese sharpened a different tool: taking a defender on directly. That mix makes him more than a runner between the penalty areas; he can move possession through a challenge as well as through a pass.
Born in Rennes, Atta developed at Metz after time in the Rennes youth system. He made his Metz first-team debut against Niort in December 2022 and signed his first professional deal the following January. His early Ligue 2 appearances came in the season Metz won promotion, giving him senior minutes before he faced Ligue 1 opponents in 2023/24.
France also used him at under-20 level. He came off the bench against the United States and England in March 2023, then started friendlies against Mexico, Saudi Arabia and Italy in June 2024.
Udinese brought him from Metz on loan in August 2024 and made the move permanent in June 2025. Atta said he had usually played as a box-to-box midfielder before arriving in Italy, but a spell in a wide position helped him recognise his ability to dribble. Back in central midfield, he could receive in traffic, combine with a nearby forward and then carry into the space the exchange opened.
The attacking side became easier to see in 2025/26. His first Udinese goal came in a Coppa Italia win over Carrarese in August 2025; in May 2026 he received Serie A's Rising Star award for April. The club highlighted his goals against Milan and Lazio when announcing it.
Udinese confirmed a permanent move to Fiorentina in July 2026. The move followed two Italian seasons in which Atta had learned to use both the inside channel and the touchline, rather than settling into one fixed midfield lane. The useful question when watching him is how he gets beyond the first opponent: a short give-and-go if support is close, or a dribble when there is room to face his marker.
Arthur Atta currently plays for Fiorentina as a central midfielder.
