Profile
Career & playing style
Niccolò Fortini came through Fiorentina's academy as a wide defender whose starting role tells only part of the story. In Serie B, he contributed by arriving late in the box and by delivering from outside it. Those distinct routes into attack help explain the demands of his position without presuming he moved the same way in every match.
With Fiorentina's Primavera side, Fortini was part of the team that won the 2023–24 Coppa Italia Primavera. The trophy belongs to the team, rather than marking an individual award. His next step was a loan to Juve Stabia for 2024–25, his first season in the professional game, where he had to turn his wide role into regular Serie B minutes.
Two Juve Stabia matches show different ways he could affect an attack. Against Salernitana in April 2025, he arrived from behind the play to meet a pass and score with his right foot. Against Catanzaro in May, he supplied the cross for a headed goal. The first was a run into the box; the second was a delivery from outside it.
Fortini returned to Fiorentina in summer 2025 and appeared for the first team across Serie A and the UEFA Conference League. UEFA's starting team sheets name him against AEK Athens in November 2025 and Raków Częstochowa in March 2026. That step into European competition came after the regular professional football he had gained in Serie B, though a team sheet alone cannot explain his movement during a match.
His international progression needs a precise distinction. Italy kept him with its senior group for the June 2026 friendlies, and the federation's match report records him replacing Costantino Favasuli against Luxembourg on 3 June. That is a senior appearance, rather than merely a call-up. He had also appeared for Italy's under-21 team; selection for a later squad does not itself add another appearance.
Torino announced a paid temporary move from Fiorentina on 21 August 2026, with an option to buy permanently. That is a loan, not a completed permanent transfer. The path from youth cup winner to Serie B wide outlet, Fiorentina's senior side and an Italy friendly explains why his attacking contributions need to be read alongside his work as a defender.
