Santiago Pierotti

Santiago Pierotti is an Argentine wide attacker whose right-sided role has demanded work at both ends of the pitch. The flank gives him two linked jobs: retreating to help a defensive line, then moving upfield to finish or supply an attack. His Lecce seasons show how much that movement matters to his game.

Pierotti was with Colón when Argentina’s federation included him in an under-18 training group in 2019. Two years later, he was among Colón’s forwards in the squad that beat Racing in the final to win the Copa de la Liga Profesional.

Lecce signed him permanently from Colón in January 2024, bringing the wide forward from Argentina to Serie A. A clear attacking milestone followed on 31 January 2025: he scored twice in a 3–1 win at Parma. Both goals came from Nikola Krstović assists, showing the value of Pierotti arriving where a teammate could find him.

His game in Italy developed beyond those finishes. He has adapted his defending, his reading of space and his choice of when to accelerate. Those choices can make his forward runs more selective: he can wait for a gap rather than always driving at his marker. He has also finished moves and set up a teammate.

During Lecce’s 2025/26 season, he acted as an extra fifth defender when the side was out of possession. That explains why his defensive work stood out in a role usually labelled winger. His willingness to drop back gave Lecce another body along the flank; once possession changed, the same channel offered a route forward.

He scored the opener against Cremonese on 8 March 2026 in a 2–1 win during Lecce’s fight to stay in Serie A. On 1 May he supplied the assist for Walid Cheddira’s goal at Pisa, another 2–1 victory. Lecce secured survival with a final-day win over Genoa.
