Career & playing style
Tasos Douvikas is a Greek centre-forward whose best work often happens before the shot. He looks for space beyond defenders, then arrives in the box to meet a pass or cross. His 2022–23 Eredivisie record bears this out: almost all his league goals came from inside the area, using either foot or his head. He has described making runs that stretch a defence while a teammate drops towards the ball.
He made his top-flight debut with Asteras Tripolis in 2017–18, then moved to Volos in summer 2020. A productive season there led FC Utrecht to sign him for 2021–22. The Dutch league offered a more open attacking game, in his own account, giving his movement and finishing a stage.
In 2022–23, Douvikas scored 19 Eredivisie goals. He shared the league's top-scorer award with Xavi Simons, becoming the first Utrecht player to finish a season at the top of that list. Eighteen goals came from inside the penalty area. That concentration helps explain his role: he is valuable when teammates move the ball into spaces he is already attacking.
Celta Vigo signed him in August 2023, taking him from the Netherlands to Spain. A Copa del Rey match at Valencia in January 2024 showed two ways he could finish: he converted a penalty and later headed in Luca de la Torre's cross as Celta won 3–1. The header was the product of his position in the centre of the area; the penalty showed another part of a striker's job, turning a set chance into a goal.
Douvikas moved from Celta to Como in 2025. In May 2026, with Como seeking its first qualification for European competition, he met a pass from Marc-Oliver Kempf and scored the only goal away to Verona. Como said that victory secured its European place. It was a team achievement, with Douvikas supplying the decisive finish, rather than an individual trophy.
That European step produced another dated moment: on 10 September 2026 he scored in Como's first Champions League match, a 4–1 win over RB Leipzig. Two weeks later, playing for Greece rather than his club, he came off the bench and headed a late winner against Serbia in the Nations League. The two goals came in different competitions, but both show the same useful habit: finding a finishing position when a teammate can deliver the ball.
