Profile
Khvicha Kvaratskhelia is a Georgian forward who makes one-on-one contests a test of the defender’s patience. He can slow down with the ball, change direction or disguise a shot before accelerating the action. A moment’s hesitation can give him the opening to move inside and finish.
Born in Tbilisi on 12 February 2001, he developed at Dinamo Tbilisi and later established himself at Rubin Kazan in Russia. His path then returned through Georgian football: Napoli signed him from Dinamo Batumi in July 2022.
His first Napoli season brought an immediate breakthrough. In 2022/23, he helped the club win its first Italian league title since 1990 and was named Serie A’s Player of the Season. Napoli also reached the Champions League quarter-finals, and UEFA selected him as that competition’s Young Player of the Season.
With Georgia, he helped turn a first European Championship appearance into a place in the knockout rounds. He scored the opening goal in the 2–0 victory over Portugal on 26 June 2024, running onto Georges Mikautadze’s pass and finishing low. The result secured Georgia’s progression to the round of 16.
He joined Paris Saint-Germain in January 2025. Four months later, he scored in the 5–0 Champions League final victory over Inter as Paris became European champions for the first time. His low finish from Ousmane Dembélé’s pass supplied the fourth goal in Munich.
Paris retained the trophy in 2026, and Kvaratskhelia was named the Champions League’s Player of the Season. He finished the 2025/26 competition with ten goals and six assists. In the final against Arsenal, he also won the penalty that Dembélé converted to equalise before Paris prevailed in the shootout.
The detail behind his dribbling matters. UEFA’s analysis of his March 2026 goals against Chelsea highlighted a move inside followed by two shooting feints before he struck. In the August 2026 UEFA Super Cup against Aston Villa, he punished Matty Cash’s pause while the defender waited for support. Both show him reading an opponent’s reaction and choosing when to act, rather than simply trying to run past him.
Khvicha Kvaratskhelia currently plays for Paris Saint Germain as a left winger. He has represented Georgia internationally.
