Profile
Jérémy Jacquet likes to meet an attack before it reaches his penalty area. He can step towards a forward, anticipate the next touch and put a foot in to win the ball. He also competes strongly for high deliveries, giving his defending a physical side alongside that willingness to leave the back line and challenge.
With the ball, he looks for ways to move the attack forward. Jacquet can pass through a line of opponents or send a longer ball towards a teammate further up the pitch. He has also gained experience in different defensive shapes, playing in the middle of a back three and on either side of a central partnership.
Born in Bondy, he played youth football for AS Outre Mer du Bois l'Abbé and RC Joinville before joining Rennes in 2019. He had played in midfield earlier in his development, before Rennes encouraged him to become a defender. He signed his first professional contract with the club in 2022.
Jacquet made his Ligue 1 debut against Nice in January 2024. A loan spell at Clermont then gave him experience in both of France's top two divisions, before Rennes brought him back in early 2025. He became a regular starter on his return and continued that progress during the 2025–26 campaign.
International youth football brought another milestone in 2024. Jacquet helped France reach the European Under-19 Championship final in Northern Ireland, where they finished runners-up to Spain. UEFA's technical observers included him in their Team of the Tournament.
Liverpool agreed his transfer in February 2026 and he completed the move that July. His senior international breakthrough followed in September, when he started France's Nations League win over Belgium. He then started against Italy in October, adding senior international football to the experience he had gained in France's youth teams.
