Profile
Gessime Yassine is a left-footed winger whose threat begins with the defender in front of him. From the right he can hold width, accelerate past his marker, or move inside for a pass or shot. The point of his dribbling is the space it opens for the next action.
Born in Salon-de-Provence and raised in Avignon, Yassine moved through southern French clubs before reaching Marignane-Gignac. Dunkerque brought him north in January 2024. He expected to start with the under-19s, yet entered a Ligue 2 match against Grenoble within days. That put him in senior football earlier than he anticipated.
At Dunkerque he supplied teammates as well as carrying the ball himself. In a December 2025 win at Laval, his cross found Thomas Robinet for the goal that put Dunkerque ahead. It illustrates the value of creating a good delivery angle, rather than beating a full-back for its own sake.
His Morocco under-20 appearances in Chile in 2025 gave that attacking range a wider stage. Yassine scored against Spain and set up goals against Brazil. Morocco later beat Argentina in the final to win the under-20 World Cup. The tournament's Golden Ball and Silver Ball went to other Moroccan players.
Dunkerque announced his permanent transfer to Strasbourg in January 2026, moving him from Ligue 2 to Ligue 1. Ligue 1's account of his arrival described a player who could stay wide or cut inside on his left foot. The move brought those instincts into top-division competition.
Morocco then took him to the senior World Cup in 2026. Off the bench against Haiti in June, he scored late in a 4–2 group-stage win. He also appeared as a substitute in the quarter-final against France, a 2–0 defeat.
In August 2026 he scored twice as Strasbourg came from behind to beat Lens 2–1. First he found space to finish at the near post; then he met a cross with a volley. The finishes showed another side of a winger often introduced through dribbling: he can also arrive where a move ends.
Gessime Yassine currently plays for Strasbourg as a right winger. He has represented Morocco internationally.
