Profile
Ludovic Ajorque is a French striker whose height gives his side an obvious target for crosses and longer passes. But the useful second action is often a pass rather than a shot: he can bring the ball down or redirect it to a runner, turning a contested delivery into an attack involving several players.
Ajorque grew up on Réunion and moved to mainland France as a young adult to pursue professional football. After joining Angers, he worked through the lower divisions, including a spell at Clermont, before reaching Strasbourg in 2018. Clermont coach Pascal Gastien later highlighted his technique and involvement in play, qualities that sit alongside his obvious physical advantage.
At Strasbourg, his size and left foot gave defenders different problems. He could challenge for a high ball, combine with a teammate and still attack the box himself. His scoring seasons of 2020/21 and 2021/22 made him an established Ligue 1 forward. Mainz also pointed to his willingness to work against the ball when announcing his next move.
Mainz signed him from Strasbourg in January 2023. The German club wanted his aerial presence and pressing, but its account of his early games also described how he created space for Karim Onisiwo as a target up front. His move showed how a central striker can influence a move even when someone else takes the final shot.
In July 2024, Mainz loaned Ajorque to Brest, who were preparing for their first Champions League campaign. Against Salzburg that October, his pass released Abdallah Sima for the opening goal in a 4–0 win. The loan later became a permanent move, allowing him to continue a role that mixed aerial contests with support play.
That range was clear in a September 2025 league win over Nice: Ajorque scored early and set up three teammates, including one with an outside-of-the-foot pass. In February 2026 he showed the more direct side of his game with two first-half headers against Marseille. Those contrasting matches explain his value better than a single label: he can be the target, the link or the finisher.
Ludovic Ajorque currently plays for Stade Brestois 29 as a striker.
