Stade Brestois 29 in brief
Founded in 1950 through the merger of five local Catholic patronage clubs, Stade Brestois represent the port city at the western tip of Brittany. Known as the Ty-Zefs, a local term for people from Brest, they wear red and white. The club play at the Stade Francis-Le Ble, a compact urban ground whose close stands have housed Brest football since the club's creation.
Brest's only national senior title is the 1981 Division 2 championship, won against Montpellier in the deciding match between the two group winners. The Brest Armorique sides of the 1980s established the club in the top flight before liquidation forced a restart in 1991. A third-place Ligue 1 finish in 2024 brought Brest their first European qualification and a subsequent debut in the UEFA Champions League.
